Explore Teaching

Teaching Placements

Request University of Westminster volunteers to raise student motivation and attainment in your school or college.

About Explore Teaching
Explore Teaching is a small, high quality scheme which provides London schools and colleges with undergraduate and postgraduate students who work as volunteer teaching assistants. The volunteers are carefully selected and trained in order to complete a 15-day placement.

Benefit to your school or college

University students support the classroom teacher in their specialist subject as well as promoting the university experience, helping to raise aspirations. Volunteers hope to take as active a part in school life as possible, using their subject knowledge to support small groups of pupils under teacher supervision, bringing their enthusiasm for learning and professionalism, possibly teaching a session.

Encourage the next generation of teachers

The volunteers are usually investigating teaching careers and wish to assist with lessons whilst gaining an introduction to teaching. Many proceed to initial teacher’s training and may become teachers at your school!

Preparation

The volunteers have DBS clearance at enhanced level and 2 references. The 15 days are arranged individually to fit both your timetable and the volunteer’s schedule.

Please also refer to our Service level Agreement with Schools and colleges.

Voluntary work

Explore Teaching participants are committed to working on a voluntary basis.
